Argon is the latest chip for the WII that has the D2C chipset in the DVD reader, ie those that have serial numbers starting on LEH-1353 ... or HIGHER such as LEH 14 ... or LEH 15 ...
With "only" 13-17 connection points, there are fewer cables to keep track of compared to D2CKEY which has about 30 connections.
NEW: We now deliver "Argon v2" chip, ie with an extra SPI eeprom soldered. If you have an older Argon and want to be able to use the upcoming update that allows connection with only 9 cables and compatibility even with older WII consoles, you can contact us if you want to buy an SPI eeprom which is easily soldered to the chip. All Argon are prepared for this, the chip is soldered to the 8 solder points next to the flat cable connector. The eepromet costs only 20: - if you bought the chip from us.
Argon can be updated with "Injectus", a so-called JTAG programmer connected between the chip and a PC. If you buy Injectus in conjunction with the installation of Argon you get it at a discounted price.

As far as regional freedom is concerned, our opinion is that "all chips work equally well / badly" and if instead of connecting the extra 4 cables required to use the chip's built-in regional patch, you can just as well patch your discs yourself with RegionFrii or similar ISO patcher. And since you always have to run "wii brick blocks" ISO patches, you can just as well take care of and run "RegionFrii". (But we mount the chip with all 17 cables connected)
