We sell out the chips we had that do NOT have the nsmb fix. According to the manufacturer, these chips should be updated as soon as they release a programming module. For the time being we will drive away those we have left for half the price.
DriveKey is the easiest way to chip-modify its Nintendo WII console. No soldering is required, nor are sensitive "clips" pressed over existing circuits.
Instead, the drivekey is quickly and easily mounted on the flat cable between the motherboard and the DVD reader. The chip eavesdrops traffic on the flat cable and enters and changes the information as needed so that the console can not see the difference between original games and backups.
However, there are a few drawbacks compared to the chips you mount with soldering or wiiclip. In order for the chip to change the information in the cable, the speed of the DVD reader is slowed down, which can cause delays in load times or hacking video sequences in certain games that read a lot of data from the disc. The chip also does not support "Streaming Audio" when playing gamecube games.
The Drivekey fits most WIIs, including those that completely lack the "D2A / D2B / D2C / D2E ... etc" component that the "regular" chip connects to. However, not WII with serial number above LEH-270xxxxx
At the end of 2009, Wii devices appeared that could not be modified directly. From serial number LEH270xxxxx it is uncertain if the DVD reader can be modified. In that case we need to change the scorecard and it currently costs extra 800 SEK.
NOTE! We do a visual inspection of all the chips before delivery, which means you will receive the chip in a broken ESD package. The reason is that chips with a certain component have problems, these chips we do not want to deliver. (Diode marked W3 = problem, diode is marked X4, chip is OK)
DriveKey sits on the bus between the Wii motherboard and the DVD drive. It transparently monitors all data transmitted. When a backup disc is inserted, DriveKey emulates an original game disc by transmitting and patching necessary data. DriveKey has full control and can read the entire DVD media.

Please Note: DriveKey is designed to modify your Wii game console. However, Wii was not designed with DriveKey or any other mod chip in mind. While every effort has been made to ensure that DriveKey is compatible with a wide range of media and drives, there is no guarantee that any given media or game will work on a specific drive. There are a number of factors beyond the scope of DriveKey functionality that affect media compatibility, such as the laser diode and other internal circuitry in the DVD drive.
