This chip works on XBOX version 1.0-1.5.
There is the wrong BIOS on this chip for xbox version 1.6 (manufactured on 17/05/2004 or later) so choose an Aladdin LIVE chip + programmer if you have such a new XBOX.
Unlike the X-ecuter 2 chip, you can only have a 256K BIOS in this chip.
Easy mounting - the chip is fixed directly to the motherboard. Only four cables must be soldered, the other 8 points soldered without cables directly to the xbox's motherboard.
The chip's functions are controlled by starting the xbox in different ways:
1: A quick push of the xbox's power button causes the xbox to start without activating the chip. Then the xbox works just as usual, you can use XBOX Live etc.
2: Hold the xbox's power button for one second at startup and the box starts with the chip enabled. Depending on which BIOS you use, you can now run Linux, Evolution-X, XBOX Media player etc. In this mode, the chip is "protected" against bios updating.
3: Hold down the xbox's power button for two seconds. Now the chip is activated just like point 2, but it is also "opened" for the bios update.
This chip comes with "Legal Cromwell flash BIOS". If you want to use another BIOS, you must burn a CD with the bios you want to use as BIOS.BIN (256K) and start the xbox as described in point 3 above.
If you ever flash "wrong" you can remove the flash circuit from its socket and send us to us and we will re-insert the Cromwell cinema. You do not have to solder the entire chip.
